Dealing thoroughly with the wastewater problem for the processing tapioca starch plants
More than two years ago, many tapioca starch plants in Quang Ngai, Kon Tum, Phu Yen, ... sued for polluting the environment. But so far the situation pollutants have been addressed thoroughly.
"Miracle" is located in the science project called "wastewater treatment system under the clean development mechanism" by Collective engineers of Quang Ngai Agricultural Products and Foodstuff Stock Company Research and Applications.
Mr. Le Ngoc Hinh - Engineer, Deputy Chief investment techniques and materials of Quang Ngai Agricultural Products and Foodstuff Stock Company, said the wastewater treatment system under the clean development mechanism to improve wastewater treatment, mitigation maximum pollution caused by wastewater treatment processes, contribute to meet the requirements to minimize environmental pollution. On the other hand, this system is also capable of recovering biogas to replace the coal-fired oven heat for drying products step (tapioca starch), thereby reducing the cost of products.
The investment in the system will adequately meet two main requirements of the Clean Development Mechanism under the Kyoto Protocol's greenhouse gas recovery (CH4) - the main component matter for 60-65% of the biogas. Therefore, the transformation of CH4 into CO2 will contribute to reducing environmental pollution.
Regarding the cause of all the tapioca starch plants previously polluting the environment, Mr. Le Ngoc Hinh said: when no wastewater treatment system under the clean development mechanism, the stench of manufacturing of tapioca starch plants produced from sedimentation and separation tank and from an anaerobic protein level 1 very large. Emissions released into the atmosphere is much of greenhouse gases. The performance decay of the biological lake is not high after anaerobic handling very difficult.
When the plants increase capacity, circadian system can not meet and occurs overload of Lake anaerobic, effluent drains in excess of standards many times. This is the cause of environmental pollution in the tapioca starch plants.
In addition, the mechanism of operation of this system is quite simple. The entire reservoir wastewater from tapioca starch plants is monumental canvas covered the entire surface of the lake on the principle of anaerobic, laying pipe inside the canvas cover to recover biogas produced during decomposition of organic matter in wastewater.
The operation of wastewater treatment systems under clean development mechanism in Hai Son tapioca starch plant, in Son Ha District, Quang Ngai shows that every day the plant produces 75 tons of tapioca starch will produce 2,400m3 of wastewater. The entire amount of this waste water will put on Cigar tank that will generate 10,300m3 of biogas.
Wastewater treatment systems under clean development mechanism installed at four tapioca starch plants of Quang Ngai Agricultural Products and Foodstuff Stock Company has saved the company more than 10 billion VND per year.
